Preparing Students for Life Beyond Central Lee
At Central Lee, students have access to a wide range of programs and opportunities that prepare them for life beyond the classroom.
Through our Career & College Readiness (CCR) framework, we empower students to become aware of the vast number of careers and explore real-world skills. This takes place through purposefully planned academic experiences, hands-on career development activities, and specialized career preparedness opportunities.
4 Years of Opportunity
Students begin preparing for college and careers the moment they start ninth grade, rooted in a leadership-focused curriculum and career exploration advisories. Parents are included in this process through a career- and college- focused parent teacher conference and kept abreast of their student’s pathway through goal sheets and class schedules.
In their freshman year, students take part in career-based contests, explore a college and career planning guide, and can start participating in career and technical student organizations.
In their sophomore year, they take part in a career exploration course, hear from professional guest speakers, take business and industry tours, and visit Southeastern Community College.
In their junior year, students can participate in the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) career exploration program, go to skilled trades expo, learn about resume writing, and take part in job shadowing experiences. They also conduct college visits and have the opportunity to engage in concurrent enrollment, earning college credit while they are still in high school.
In their senior year, students continue all the programs and opportunities that have been available to them throughout high school. They also engage in mock interviews, finalize their resumes, and apply for scholarships. Additional opportunities available to seniors include work-study programs, work-based learning experiences, extended job shadows, and SCC certification programs.
