Students and staff have been working hard to achieve our Wildly Important Goals this year. Staff members are teaching leadership lessons nearly every day and focusing on making positive contact with students. Students are focused on completing and passing their iReady lessons in reading and math to improve their academic performance and achieve growth on district-wide assessments.
Speaking of assessments, the ISASP (Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress) is coming up in April. These assessments measure student growth in core competencies, and the Iowa School Performance Profiles posts district and building data on a “report card,” indicating how public schools performed on required measures. To learn more about the Iowa School Performance Profiles, we invite you to visit their website. We will be sending more information regarding the middle school’s ISASP testing schedule soon, as well as helpful tips for students.
In other news, we are happy to share that students have been performing well at various Science Fair competitions. The valuable learning and experiences students receive from participating in research is immeasurable. Not only are students able to engage in scientific research methods, but they also integrate organizational, presentation, and evaluation skills into their projects.
In addition, Spring Fun Night was held last Friday, and well over 100 seventh and eighth grade students attended the beach-themed event. Our students enjoyed music and dancing, kickball, dodgeball, food, and games with their peers.
As we head into the final weeks of the school year, we know that students are beginning to look forward to summer break. We ask that families help to keep their students on track by ensuring regular attendance and encouraging them to continue working hard until the very end.
Thank you for all you do to help our students be successful inside and outside of the classroom!
As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
