The Physical Education teachers have welcomed a new addition to their team at the K-8 building! Miss Heavin teaches P.E. for kindergarten-1st grade and Lifetime Wellness for 2nd-4th grade, allowing Mr. Siebers to teach P.E. for middle school students.

Mr. Siebers and Miss Heavin co-teach combined classes for 5th and 6th grade. We have found success in this schedule, allowing us to maximize P.E. time for all K-8 students. Students have been able to participate in a variety of sports and activities since the fall.

So far, students have enjoyed traditional favorites, such as volleyball, basketball, soccer, badminton, and handball, in addition to the new and unusual Tchoukball, curling, KanJam, and mini golf. Recently, students practiced their roller-skating skills!

It has been wonderful to watch students progress in their learning and abilities. We’re looking forward to finishing our year off with recreational games and softball, and we are hopeful the weather will allow for some outdoor learning soon.

In high school P.E., students are currently engaged in a skating unit. Students have the option to utilize workout videos in place of skating, if they prefer. Each P.E. class typically starts with a fitness routine or warm-up to get our bodies ready for exercise.

Our P.E. curriculum also includes team handball, volleyball, soccer, golf, softball, and recreational games. During the first semester, students learn about and practice archery, basketball, ultimate frisbee, football, volleyball, and softball.

Other activities include the game Tchoukball, and we have also had the pleasure of having National Guard members visit to get to know our students and train them in new skills and activities.
