The Central Lee Community School District announces that the Little Hawks Preschool Program at Central Lee Elementary School will transition from a four-day to a five-day per week program starting in the 2024-25 school year.

This change aims to enhance the educational experience for the district’s youngest learners, providing them with more consistent and comprehensive early childhood education.

Since 2017, Little Hawks Preschool has been dedicated to serving four-year-old students through the Statewide Voluntary Preschool Program. The program has operated four days per week for three hours each day, focusing on delivering high-quality preschool education tailored to meet each child's needs, including children with disabilities and those from diverse backgrounds.

"Transitioning to a five-day schedule will allow us to better support the developmental needs of our students," said Heather Fuger, Central Lee Elementary School Principal. "We believe that this change will provide a more stable and enriching environment for the children, preparing them more effectively for kindergarten and beyond."

Children who are four years of age before September 15 of the upcoming school year are eligible to attend Little Hawks Preschool for free. Additionally, children who qualify for an Individual Education Plan (IEP) for special education services, with goals beyond speech-only IEP, are eligible to enroll upon reaching their third birthday.

Parents and guardians interested in enrolling their children in Little Hawks Preschool for the 2024-25 school year can contact Karen Rudd at 319-835-9510 or via email at krudd@centrallee.org for more information.
