Central Lee High School and Middle School received strong ratings on the 2023-24 Iowa School Performance Profiles, with the high school achieving a “High-Performing” designation and the middle school rated as “Commendable.”

The Iowa Department of Education releases the profiles annually to evaluate public schools statewide. Schools are scored and ranked across several key performance indicators.

This year, CLHS maintained its status as one of the top-performing schools in Iowa, earning 687.48 points out of 900, or 76.38%, and ranking third among all high schools in the state. Central Lee Middle School achieved 487.85 points out of 700, or 66.84%. Both schools ranked significantly above the overall state averages.

“We are continually impressed and inspired by the performance of our schools year after year,” said Dr. Andy Crozier, Central Lee Superintendent. “As a district, we are dedicated to delivering a well-rounded, high-quality educational experience to our students, and our rankings reflect the exceptional efforts of our staff and educators. We look forward to harnessing this momentum and achieving even greater success in the future.”

Especially notable were the high school’s results in “Post-Secondary Readiness,” with 95.65% of students earning college credit through concurrent enrollment, compared to the state average of 68.99%. Additionally, 72.46% of students participated in Work-Based Learning programs, far exceeding the state average of 25.47%. Central Lee High School boasts a consistently high graduation rate, exceeding 92% over the past five years, with 95.89% of students graduating in the most recent cohort.

At the middle school level, highlights include a significantly lower chronic absenteeism rate compared to the state average and strong academic performance, particularly in science. Proficiency rates exceeded state averages, with 79.32% in English language arts, 71.8% in math, and 84.09% in science.

The district attributes its success to several factors, including fostering a positive environment across all schools and providing programs that create pathways for both academic achievement and lifelong success. Additionally, collaboration among educators and a commitment to instruction tailored to whole-group, small-group, and individual learning needs play a significant role in driving performance and outcomes.

The Iowa School Performance Profiles initiative was launched in 2018 to fulfill state and federal requirements by providing report cards that reflect the performance of all public schools.
