Annual Fort Madison Area Arts Association Budding Artist Show

Central Lee K-6 students were once again fortunate enough to participate in the FMAAA Budding Artist Show! The show displays art from multiple local school districts. Mrs. Canida begins collecting art from January of the current school year through December of the following year to allow more opportunities for participation. This year, we submitted more than 400 student works!

Volunteers at FMAAA did an amazing job displaying and showcasing our incredible student artists!

K-9 Visits 5th Grade Art Classroom

In 2018, when the Lee County Sheriff's Department began fundraising for their new K-9, officers visited the Central Lee K-8 – including a stop by Mrs. Canida's Art Room. First graders were excited to hear about the future addition to the Sheriff's Department! One young student was especially excited and asked when they were going to get to meet the dogs.

Fast forward four years, and several of the students in that first-grade class finally got to meet the K9! Kion and his handler, Deputy Maag, visited on Thursday. Students were able to ask questions and watch Kion show off some of his skills. Deputy Maag did a great job sharing and answering questions. It was much appreciated and a great opportunity for our students!
