Amazing Art at Central Lee HS

The students enrolled in art classes at Central Lee High School ended the 2021-2022 school year with much to be proud of! They competed in the Conference Art Show, Fort Madison Art Show, Keokuk Art Show, and the 2nd Annual Central Lee Art Show. All art shows were extremely competitive, with students presenting incredible pieces in many mediums. Central Lee took home numerous awards at each show and impressed the community with their talents! Student Cory Jones took home Best of Show at the Central Lee Art Show with his oil painting, Fishing Lures.

Last year, we also hosted the Haunted Trail and Trick or Treating for the first time! Students dressed up in their creepiest costumes and decorated the outdoor education area to successfully spook the visitors in the woods. The students learned a lot from the experience and have even better plans in the works for this year’s Haunted Trail, which will now take place on October 29 from 6:30-9:00 p.m. Trick or treating will be from 6:30-7:00 p.m., with the Haunted Trail to follow. Keep an eye out for flyers with more information!

Currently, the art students are working on Halloween photo face boards for the Lee County Crime Stoppers Halloween event. Soon, students will paint murals at Paulette’s Dance Studio as well as inside the Lee County Conservation Building! So far this year, students have worked on many exciting projects, including colored pencil, painting, and clay projects. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the 2022-23 year holds for the Central Lee Art Department!
