On Friday, January 24th, students at Central Lee High School took part in a series of engaging rotations led by the student SOAR team aimed at promoting a safer and more positive school environment. The Lee County Sheriff's Office ran two of the stations along with the Iowa State Extension Office, it was an enriching day! The day’s events concluded with the much-anticipated annual dodgeball tournament, providing students with a fun way to bond and celebrate the spirit of teamwork.

Students in Ag-Ed I were excited to present an animal science topic to their classmates. The presentations bring the classroom to life with hands-on learning. Front(L-R) Johnny Seyb and Aaden Anderson. The topic was management and care of Specialty Beef Animals. The cattle are part of Aaden Anderson's Supervised Agricultural Experience project. Seyb also raises feeder beef cattle. The Supervised Agricultural Experience projects are an extension of the Agricultural Education program at Central Lee Community Schools. Experiential and work-based learning in school based agricultural education allows local programs to extend beyond the classroom and into the community in order to develop an individual student’s industry and career-based competencies. The methodology for delivering such high quality experiential learning is the Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE). The SAE is a required component of a total Agricultural Education program and intended for every student. Through their involvement in the SAE program students are able to consider multiple careers and occupations, learn expected workplace behavior, and develop specific skills within an industry, and are provided opportunities to apply academic and occupational skills in the workplace or a simulated workplace environment. Through these strategies, students learn how to apply what they are learning in the classroom as they prepare to transition into the world of college and career opportunities. Congratulations to the Central Lee High School Speech Team! 🎭 Over the weekend, our speech students competed at Clear Creek Amana High School, earning a "I" rating in Short Film and "II" ratings in Ensemble Acting and Improv. A special shoutout to Kadence Boyer, Kristianna Boyer, Quinn Gates, Abby Kempker, Colton Kirchner, Dylan Rankin, Desi Rhoer, Cheyenne Starks, Noah Wright, and Katelynn Wright for advancing to State in the Short Film category on February 8.
