While in her fourth year enrolled in Agricultural Education classes and completing SCC concurrent enrollment classes here at Central Lee, Chyane Davidson is applying skills in the workplace. Chyane is enrolled in our Work-Based Learning class through the Career and College Readiness Program. As a part of the experience, she is working in the agriculture field at Donnellson Elevator. She is preparing to transition from her experiences here, to college, and onto a career in agriculture. #CTEworksforCL

Central Lee Athletics and Fine Arts programs cannot operate without the support of our business and community sponsors. William Hayes, 8th grader at Central Lee, was recently selected for participation in the 35th annual Opus Honor Choir Festival. Over 2100 students auditioned and were nominated by their directors for 720 positions in the four Opus Honor Choirs. Selections were made by means of a recorded audition. Guest conductor of the 7th & 8th Grade Bass Clef Honor Choir will be David Fog, retired. The 2021 Opus Honor Choirs will perform at 4:00 pm November 18th in CY Stephens Auditorium in the Iowa State Center in Ames. The Opus Honor Choir Festival is made possible by the Iowa Choral Directors Association, Inc.

Central Lee alumna Kelsey Hammer-Parks won an Upper Midwest Regional Emmy over the weekend!
She was honored for a documentary series she helped produce in partnership with WOI-TV, focused on the stories of vulnerable Iowans after the 2020 derecho. Congratulations, Kelsey!

The Central Lee Marching Band competed at the 30th Annual Clark County Parade of Champions on Saturday, October 9th. The students earned 1st place in the 3A parade division and 1st place in the 3A field competition division. Thank you music department parents for the photos.

Author, Kristi R. Bradbury (Rhody) from Los Angeles, spent Friday reading her first book “To Iowa In the Back Seat” to our elementary students. The story is depicts her experience traveling to Donnellson as a child to visit her grandmother. Several students also found out that they were related to her. What a fun day of learning for our students.
Students in Ag-Ed II classes are studying soil science. Students are pictured performing a lab which depicts soil horizons and how soil profiles are developed. Aspiring teacher, Abby Sugars, is able to gain valuable teaching experience in our kindergarten classrooms here at Central Lee. As a student in the work-based learning class through the Career and College Readiness Program, Abby is able have the advantage to have a meaningful experience in an elementary classroom. She will be able to take that experience and the skills she has learned and apply them to her teacher education program courses.
