The 7th grade students spent Wednesday morning picking up litter all around campus. They have been learning about the dangers of plastic pollution and finding sustainable solutions in social studies class, so it was a good experience for them to take action at school. They picked up 24-20 gallon bags and 2-55 gallon bags worth of trash, including interesting items such as 2 TV remotes, a Batmobile, and an alien monkey!

Happy Read Across America Day!
Launched in 1998 by the National Education Association (NEA) and guided by a committee of educators, NEA’s Read Across America is the nation’s largest celebration of reading. The year-round program’s theme is “Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers” and focuses on motivating children and teens to read through events, partnerships, and reading resources that are about everyone, for everyone.
The titles and resources featured by NEA’s Read Across America include books that students can see themselves reflected in, as well as books that allow readers to see a world or a character that might be different from them.
Readers who feel included, recognized, and a part of the world are engaged readers.
For NEA’s book suggestions at all reading levels or for more information on Read Across America Day, visit https://www.nea.org/! #Proud2bCL

28 members from the Central Lee FFA traveled to Louisa-Muscatine Schools to participate in the South Sub-District career development events and leadership development events. Several teams and individuals advanced to the district level which will be held in Pekin-Packwood schools. Pictured is Adelyn Robinson who rated a Gold rating in FFA Creed Speaking and advanced to district competition. Reciting the FFA Creed has become—in its own, unique way—a rite of passage. While almost every FFA member (past and present) can still recite at least parts of the creed, most probably don’t know much about its origins. The FFA Creed was written in the summer of 1928 by Professor Erwin Milton Tiffany, who was the chief teacher in the Department of Agricultural Education at the University of Wisconsin. Tiffany was developing an exhibit for the first FFA convention. He had prepared several charts and tables showing the various programs of instruction in Wisconsin. #CTEworksforCL

Tomorrow's FFA Breakfast will be postponed to Friday, March 4th from 6:30am-8:30am. #FFAweek #Proud2bCL
