Jacob Vollmer’s apprenticeship, through our Work-Based Learning Program, at J.J. Nichting Company has helped launch him forward to his future career. His hands on learning of the skills, knowledge, and experience it takes to be successful as a diesel tech has given him a leg up in life. For our second quarter service learning project, Middle School students are learning about food insecurity and our local food banks. We will be having a canned food (or other non-perishable food items) drive to collect for local food banks in the area. Anyone and everyone is welcome to donate to this drive. You may drop donations at the K-8 office :)

The group took part in “hands on” learning and became excited about the many opportunities in the welding industry. Kennedy Wellman is enjoying and succeeding in her internship at Lee County Veterinary Care. This opportunity has opened her tool box of soft skills. Kennedy says it best, “This job has really helped my confidence in communication and working with other people. This handcrafted quilt, made by Donna Schinstock, was made in memory of Kodi Lee Moeller. It was donated by Kodi’s Grandparents, Mike and Donna Schinstock. Kodi Moeller was a beloved member and officer of the Central Lee FFA Chapter. This quilt will be auctioned off at the 2024 Central Lee Labor Auction Tuesday Night, November 12th. The meal will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the Auction will begin at 6:30 p.m.
