We are proud to induct Dr. John Jabour into the 2022 Academic Hall of Fame!
A graduate of the class of 1973, Dr. Jabour was on the campus bowl team, was named a State of Iowa Scholar, and received a National Merit Letter of Commendation through the PSAT program.
In medical school at the University of Iowa, Dr. Jabour was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Following residency in Florida, he practiced at Iowa Methodist and Methodist West hospitals and various outpatient surgery centers in the area. In 1997, he was the first anesthesiologist to become president of the Methodist medical staff.

It was a busy night at Elliot Test Kitchen this evening. Approximately 75 attended a Christmas End of the Year Celebration consisting of Hawk Place 4th, 5th and 6th grade students and their families who enjoyed an evening of fun, games and good food. Thank you to Kumar and the Test Kitchen for hosting this event for our kids and their families. .
Hawk Place Kindergarten thru 3rd grade students enjoyed a visit to the Fort Madison Area Arts Association. The art center gives the kids an appreciation for art while encouraging self expression and hands on activities during their visits.
Hawk Place enjoyed a visit from ISU Extension Breana Houtz this week for some Christmas fun. They used their creativity and assembled gingerbread craft houses as well as frosted graham crackers activities. Hawk Place would like to thank Breana for her guidance in STEAM activities twice a month last school year and this past semester. This was her last visit and we will miss her but wish her the best on her next endeavor.
Mary Sue Chatfield is a 2022 inductee into the Central Lee Academic Hall of Fame!
Chatfield is a former first-grade teacher leader who presented various curriculum ideas at the Iowa Reading Council and Iowa Social Studies Conferences. She was named Central Lee’s teacher of the year in 2004.
Chatfield also served on the Montrose Library Board, was a historian for Montrose Methodist Church, and sang in the Church Choir and St. Barnabas Choir. She helped form Montrose Riverfront, Inc. (MRI) in 2004.
We are thrilled to honor Mary Sue Chatfield and her many accomplishments and service to the Central Lee community.
We’re thrilled to welcome Howard Carter as a 2022 Academic Hall of Fame inductee!
Carter spent 31 years as a Central Lee educator, teaching social studies and math. He was named the 1980 teacher of the year, in part due to his innovative Multi-Occupations Cooperative (MOC) program through which students were placed with manufacturers in business for hands-on training.
Since retiring, Howard has served on the Keokuk City Council and spent 30 years on the Grand Theatre Commission, including six years as manager. Under his leadership, the Grand Theatre was restored to its original condition after a long period of decline.

A group of Central Lee Agricultural Education/FFA students took part in a demonstration on precision planting while enroute to the National FFA convention recently. The Precision Planting business is located in Tremont, Illinois. Students were treated to information on the many aspects of new technologies in agriculture. Josh Hawk has completed many Career and Technical courses at Central Lee, including dual credit classes like Ag Welding and Electricity. Josh wanted to explore the electrical career field as he looks at the many possibilities for life after high school. Josh works for JM Electric Inc. through the Work-Based Learning program. He is getting hand-on experience in the trade, as he learns what it takes to be an electrician. #CTEworksforCL
Gannon Wells is a Senior at Central Lee and is an active member of the Central Lee Agricultural Education Department and FFA. Gannon is pictured performing duties as an auctioneer at the annual service/labor auction auctioning himself off for 8 hours of community service. The Central Lee FFA auction was a huge success raising funds for student and community activities. We sincerely thank the community, parents and administration for their continued support. We especially thank the auctioneers for donating their time. Students of the Central Lee FFA participated in a team building activity at the Indiana Fear Farm recently. The Fear Farm is an actual working farm and is an example of diversification in agriculture utilizing different parts of an agribusiness to maximize efficiency.
