These students competed in the high school carpentry division of the Iowa Craft Championships held in Des Moines, Iowa. The team had 4 hours to complete their project from start to finish which included writing up a safety plan before they could start the build. The teams get the prints for the build about 10 minutes before the start and are not allowed any interaction with their instructors during the build. This team finished with 25 minutes to spare and kept the quality of their work high throughout. They didn’t finish in the top 2, but were complimented multiple times of their teamwork and finished product, and are already looking forward to next year! #CTEworksforCL Pictured from left to right: Denton Westercamp, Hunter Gregory, Landan Lowenberg, Dante Merschman, and Riley Stuecker.

Universal Human Rights Month is an annual designation observed in December where people all across the globe are encouraged to come together and stand up for equity, justice and the dignity of all humans. Human Rights Day is observed every year on 10 December — the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The UDHR is a milestone document, which proclaims the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being - regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Did You Know?: Available in more than 500 languages, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is the most translated document in the world! #Proud2bCL

Computer Science Education Week #CSEdWeek, Dec. 6-12, is an annual call to action to inspire K-12 students to learn computer science, advocate for equity in computer science education, and celebrate the contributions of students, teachers and partners to the field. Fun Fact: This week is held in recognition of the birthday of Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906), who invented the first compiler and coined the term “bug” (an error in a program) after removing an actual moth from a computer in 1947! #Proud2bCL
