Brent Hickenbottom, Dallas City native, residing in St. Louis, came to our school to share his stories with us. All grade levels experienced his enthusiastic presentation and learned about his choice of writing style and a bit about illustration. He engaged student's prior knowledge and was blown away by our students' understanding. He also read aloud his two books to students. We want students to see the potential for them to become authors and illustrators as their future career.
Maddox Doty gave his final presentation on his experiences in the Extended Job Shadow Capstone. An Extended Job Shadow Capstone Experience gives students the opportunity to take a deep look into a career that matches their career goals. Maddox has a career goal of entering law enforcement. The Lee County Sherriff’s Department invited Maddox to spend multiple days with their department to see all aspects of their career area. He rode along and interviewed multiple deputies to learn more about the career field. Thank you Lee County Sherriff’s Department and good job Maddox. #CTEworksforCL
Central Lee Elementary students participated in holiday activities before winter break led by our 5th Grade Student SOAR Team. These leaders planned for each activity and provided students directions as they gathered in the MPR. They made holiday cards for nursing home residents, designed ornaments for themselves, danced to fun songs, and took photo booth pictures. We are very proud of our students for applying for leadership roles throughout the building.
